The Arcade Free Library has an active and supportive Friends group. The Friends
offer three very special fund-raising events throughout the year:
THEME BASKET AUCTION - Late in May the Friends hold a "Theme-Basket Auction." Baskets to be auctioned are provided by donors who have filled their baskets with a variety of items on a theme of their choosing. Lovely baskets! Lots of fun! BOOK SALE - The annual used- book sale is held the Saturday after July 4th between the hours of 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM. Adult and children's hard cover and paper back books are sold as well as magazines, records, audio and video tapes. At 3:00 PM, a bag sale starts which allows patrons to buy a shopping bag full of books for only $1.00. TREE FESTIVAL - The Friends held their first one-day long Tree Festival in December of 1990. Today the Festival is celebrated for three days -- the first Thursday, Friday, and Saturday of December. Tree presenters are individuals and businesses in the area that take great pride in the originality of their tree. In past years trees have been decorated with antique buttons, angels, candy, cross-stitched ornaments as well as numerous other themes. Each tree's decoration is creative and unique. |
